Creating and exporting an FMU
The FMI specifications define two types of FMU:
- FMU for Model Exchange — a standardized container for compiled software that evaluates a system-simulation model's differential equations. It is meant to be interfaced with an FMI-for-Model-Exchange-compliant simulator that provides at least the numerical solver needed to perform the transient simulation.
- Slave FMU for Co-simulation — a standardized container for a simulator (system-simulation model + math libraries + numerical solver). It is meant to be interfaced with a master FMI-for-Co-simulation simulator that provides at least the co-simulation stepping scheme needed to operate the slave.
Simcenter Amesim can create both FMU types using a single tool: the FMU export assistant.
