Linking an object with Simcenter Amesim parameters

You can easily link an object with Simcenter Amesim parameters. In this way, you can use buttons and sliders in the Dashboard to modify parameters in Simcenter Amesim. To do this, position Simcenter Amesim and the Dashboard editor so that both are visible on your screen, and select the Simcenter Amesim component whose parameters you want to manipulate. Now you can drag a parameter from the Simcenter Amesim component and drop it onto the Value field of an object in the Object inspector.

Here, we are linking the mass parameter with a slider’s value field. When we manipulate the slider in the Dashboard, or directly type a new value for its value property in the object inspector, the mass parameter value is updated in Simcenter Amesim. You can also link parameters to perform interactive change during simulation, as described in Interactive signal input during simulation.

Note

If a parameter is associated with the externinput component, that parameter can be modified during a simulation (in Simulation mode), allowing you to change the vehicle mass, for example, while the simulation is running. See Interactive signal input during simulation for more information on this feature.
