1D plots

1D plot

1D plots are dedicated to array-type variables in a submodel. It is a 2D line plot which shows the variation of one array-type variable over another array-type variable. These variables are defined at the level of the submodel when it is created in the Submodel Editor.

1D plots are interesting for visualizing a physical quantity in one direction and the propagation of this quantity over time. For example, that could be the pressure wave propagation along the length of a pipe. We illustrate the process of creating a 1D plot with a simple example.

An example of a use case is available: Shock tube.

Creating a 1D plot

You create a 1D plot through the contextual Variables or Watch variables view panes.

Procedure

  1. Right-click a variable.

  2. Select Plot > 1D from the contextual menu that is the item of the Y-axis.

    Note You can also create a 1D plot from the Analysis toolbar and then drag the variable concerned to the Plot window:

Using a 1D plot

When you create a 1D plot, the Plot window that opens contains an animation bar. It allows you to animate the curve and the propagation of the pressure wave along the pipe.
