Creating and exporting FMU
The Export Tool in detail
The preferred scenario for creating a new model to be exported later is the following:
Procedure
Create the model in Sketch mode, using all the available library submodels, but not the interface block at this step. Future external inputs of the model are to be temporarily replaced by signal source blocks, and the external outputs are to be sent to signal sink blocks;
Compile the model by entering Simulation mode and test it by performing simulations;
Return to Sketch mode to add an interface block, connecting the outputs of the block to the actuator submodels, and the inputs of the block to the sensor submodels;
Use the FMU Export Assistant to actually generate the FMU. This assistant lets you choose the type and version of the FMU, the visibility level, and the target platform type (native or real-time).
Results
Each time a change is made to the model (adding or removing a component, changing a submodel, changing the value of a parameter, or setting the run parameters in the co-simulation case), the model must be re-exported by again calling the FMU Export Assistant.
