Introduction

Overview of the Performance Analyzer

Four panes are available in the interface of the Performance Analyzer and they can be accessed by clicking the corresponding button on the left side of the main window:

The Run statistics pane gives detailed information about the solver.
The State contributions pane enumerates all the state variables of the model and their contribution to the determination of the solver integration step size.
The Frequencies pane gives insight into the frequency content of the model.
The Discontinuities pane displays the discontinuities generated by submodels.

The Run statistics and the State contributions panes have a similar layout: on the left side a list of variables is displayed, and on the right side some predefined plots are automatically created.

In the Frequencies pane, you will have to perform a specific analysis to get the corresponding plot.

In the Discontinuities pane, on the left side a table lists the submodels and their discontinuity contributions, and on the right side two tabs are available:

  • the Pie chart tab presents a pie chart plot giving the cumulative contribution for the selected submodel(s),

  • The Curves tab contains plots of cumulative and instantaneous contributions of the selected submodel(s).

In each pane you can select which run will be analyzed using the common drop down menu. It will be applied to all panes and to Simcenter Amesim.

In the following section we will build a simple example which will show how to use the Performance Analyzer.
