Hold curve

The Hold curve facility allows you to quickly compare the results of changes in parameters. With this facility, you can 'hold' a curve in a graph, modify a parameter, and then run a simulation with new parameters to compare the curve that is held with the new curve.

Note

Curves created from Hold curve are not kept when you add a plot to the system.

When you hold a curve, a curve is added to the graph. By default the original title is appended with the suffix (Hold) and the curve style has a slight different appearance. You can configure this behavior through the Hold curve creation dialog window, accessible through the plot menubar Tools > Hold curve or the plot toolbar by clicking the hold curve creation icon

You can configure the following elements:

• Title: you can define the suffix that is added to the original curve title.

• Style: you can set the line style and the line thickness. The color of the original curve is the same, you can decrease the brightness thanks to the faded color option.

• Apply to: You can choose if the action is applied to the graphs of the whole plot window, all the graphs of the current page, or one of the graphs of the current page.

When you apply the Hold curve facility to graphs that contain multiple curves, a hold curve is created for each curve. The configuration of the title and the style is set to all created curves.

Note

You can hold a single curve in a graph through the contextual menu of the curve. Right-click the curve graph-key or the curve title in the legend to access the Hold curve creation window.

Replace held curve

If a curve is already on hold, you can define a curve from a new simulation as the one to be held next. The former held curve is then replaced. This can be done in two ways:

• Through the contextual menu of the held curve: right-click the graph-key of the held curve and select Update held data. Figure 127: Update held data

• Through the contextual menu of the curve: right-click the graph-key of the curve and select Replace held curve. Figure 128: Replace held curve

Delete held curve(s)

If you want to clean your graph(s), you can remove only the curves that are held. From the plot menubar select Tools > Remove held curves.

You can choose whether the creation of held curves is applied to the graphs of the whole plot window, all the graphs of the current page, or one of the graph of the current page.
