Power Balance of a single component

On this model, we can first verify the framework on the load subsystem. The vehicle component has only one power input whose value is given by a power sensor at the bottom-right corner of the mechanical model. Moreover, there are three different internal powers:

  • : a mechanical inertial power (variation of the loads kinetic energy),

  • : a mechanical resistive power (due to the aerodynamic drag forces on the load),

  • : a mechanical resistive power (due to rolling friction forces).

The power balance equation therefore becomes:

As expected, we can get a good view of the evolutions of the different powers in the car component when the gears are changed so that the vehicle speed increases.
