Managing User Libraries

In addition to the standard libraries supplied with Simcenter Amesim, you can add your own user libraries. See Adding a user-defined library for more information on this subject.

Once you have added one or more user libraries to the path list, you can perform the following actions on them in the Library Tree:

• Create one or more sub-folders

• Add components to (a) sub-folder(s)

• Rename a sub-folder

• Re-order sub-folders

• Nest sub-folders

Working with sub-folders

You can create your own sub-folders within a user library and populate them with specific components as you require. Additionally you can nest further sub-folders within those folders. Once you have created these sub-folders, you can drag and drop components into them from other folders in your user libraries.

Creating sub-folders

Create your sub-folders by right-clicking on a user library folder, or on an existing sub-folder and selecting from the contextual menu.

When you do this, you are prompted to enter a name for the new sub-folder:

Through the contextual menu, you can also rename or delete a sub-folder, copy and paste existing sub-folders with their contents, add components, and import existing Favorites that you have already created (see Favorites for more information).

Re-ordering sub-folders

You can drag and drop sub-folders as you require within your user library.

You can drag and drop a component from your user library into a sub-folder of that user library.

When you drag and drop a component to a root folder, that component is only available from that folder (not the sub-folders). However, a component you drag to a sub-folder is also available from its parent folder. Here we see the dynamic electrical node in a sub-folder and consequently accessible from its parent folder:

On the other hand, if we add a component to the root folder, it will not be visible in the sub-folder(s):

Note

• Moving a component icon into a user sub-folder only creates a copy there.

• Deleting a component icon from a sub-folder only deletes that copy, not the component itself.

• If you have created several nested sub-folders, moving a component icon to a nested sub-folder makes that copy visible to all of its parent folders.

• Moving a component icon to a nested sub-folder does not automatically make it available in all the sub-folder's children.
