Creating watch parameters and variables
Creating watch parameters
You can create watch parameters by dragging parameters from the Parameters pane to the Watch parameters pane:
Figure 120: Creating a watch parameter
When you drag a parameter over the Watch parameters tab, the focus automatically switches to the Watch parameters tab and you can drop your parameter onto the Watch parameters pane:
Figure 121: The newly-created watch parameter
If you have created folders for organizing your Watches (see Organizing watches), you can drag the parameter into a folder.
With the default interface configuration, the Watch panes are grouped with their corresponding variable or parameter panes:
Figure 122: Watch panes grouped with parameter and variable panes
The characteristics are saved with the model and hence Simcenter Amesim Run can always remember your favorite parameters and variables for a given model.
Note
You can undock and move your Watch panes to other positions in the interface as you require. If you modify the interface configuration, you can restore the default configuration through the Reset layout function.
Changing parameters
You can change parameter values in the Watch parameters tab. On a big model this provides very rapid access to important model parameters.
Plotting variables
You can plot directly from the Watch variables tab by dragging and dropping a variable onto the sketch area:

You can also create Watches for global parameters in the same way. Simply drag and drop a global parameter into the Watch pane from the Global Parameter Setup window.

You can create watch variables in either Parameter or Simulation mode.
As with watch parameters, you create watch variables by double-clicking a component and dragging and dropping the variable concerned from the Variables List to the Watch variables tab.
If the Watch parameters tab is currently active, the application automatically switches to the Watch variables tab when you drag a variable to the Watch dock window.
Result sets in Watches
When your simulation contains multiple result sets, you can select those result sets individually for each variable in the Watch variables pane, but also globally in the Result Set drop-down list.
Figure 125: Watch variables pane Result Set drop-down list
In figure Figure 125, we see three Watch variables each configured to a different Result set (3, ref, and 5). Consequently, the global Result Set drop-down displays ???. We can easily set all three Watch variables to the same result set by selecting one of the available result sets from the global Result Set drop-down list:
Figure 126: Setting all Watch variable result sets
In figure Figure 126 above we are using the global Result Set drop-down list to switch all individual result sets to Result Set 6.
