Experiment view exporting and importing experiments

You can export and import experiments.

By default, experiments are saved within the active system; when you close and reopen a system, the experiments you created will be available in the Experiment view.

You can also save experiments to a file independent from the system. This creates an archive file with a .ameexp extension.

Warning

When exporting and importing an experiment, make sure the experiment filename does not contain unicode characters as the experiment might fail after being applied to a model.

Exporting an experiment

You can export an experiment by right-clicking the experiment and selecting Export from the contextual menu.

A file browser opens allowing you to define a name for the exported experiment and select a destination folder.

Importing an experiment

You can import an experiment by right-clicking on a blank space in the Experiment view and selecting Import from the contextual menu.

Note

This will import the experiment as an embedded experiment.

A file browser opens through which you can browse to locate your saved experiments and to import them into the current system.

Note that the target system into which you import an experiment must contain the appropriate components for the imported experiment. If, for example, your experiment contains parameters for Mechanical library components, but those components are not present in the target system, the experiment will be loaded, but the experiment may be incompatible with the target system.

If you do load and apply the experiment, it may well have no effect on the target system components.

Note

You can also import experiments created with previous versions of Simcenter Amesim Run which use the .exp extension (rather than the current .ameexp extension).

Linking to an experiment

Instead of importing an experiment (embedding), you can link to an exported experiment (to create a linked experiment). In this case you select Link from the contextual menu:

When you click Link, a file browser opens through which you can browse to locate exported or linked experiments.
