Examine the model

The 3D modeling tab provides you with a system view whose main goal is to show the initial state of your model. Depending on the data you associate with an object property, a change in the property values can affect your model:

  • if the data is a parameter (submodel parameter or global parameter), there is a direct link between the value of the submodel parameter or the global parameter, and the property value of the 3D object. A change in the property value from the input field or from the 3D scene manipulators is directly pushed to the value of the submodel parameter.

  • if the data is a variable (submodel variable or post-processing variable), there is no effect on the model if there is a change in the property value. The last value you set is kept and is not changed if a simulation is run.

  • if the data is a state variable, there is a direct link between the initial value of the submodel parameter and the property value of the 3D object. A change of the property value from the input field or from the 3D scene manipulators is directly pushed to the value of the submodel parameter.

In addition, this tab allows you to build your 3D scene. You can:

  • Add basic shapes, such as a sphere, cone, box, torus, or cylinder.

  • Add advanced 3D objects, such as arrows, springs, scene text (3D display).

  • Add screen objects, such as color scale, screen text (2D display on the edge of the 3D scene).

  • Import 3D mesh files from 3D creation tools (.obj, .stl; .gltf, .x3d) or 3D CAD files from CAD software applications. Since units are taken in to account, you can rescale the 3D mesh objects once you import them.
