Cursor replay

This command displays the replay cursor coordinates. This function allows you to replay a simulation in the plot, and can be applied to both a temporal or an XY plot. When the cursor replay is activated, a replay toolbar is displayed:

Here, you can use the standard play tools to move the cursor coordinates:

Go to the beginning
Step backward
Play
Step forward
Go to the end
Time box
Time slider
Playback speed
Loop

Note

In addition to using the time box and time slider to advance/reverse the cursor replay, you can use your keyboard left and right arrow keys to perform the same action.

When the cursor replay is activated, the following options are available through a right-click on the cursor in the plot:

Figure 162: Replay cursor options

  • Auto centering

Auto centering

This option centers the cursor in the plot window, and the plot scrolls past the cursor from right to left during replay

  • Show elapsed time

show elapsed time

This option highlights elapsed time in blue in the plot.

Note

Unlike with the other cursors (X, XY, Double X), you can use the zoom, pan and autoscale modes in conjunction with the replay cursor mode. The cursor remains active while you are using these modes, whereas with the other cursors it is deactivated as soon as you click the zoom, pan or autoscale buttons.

If you have several different graphs in your plot, the replay cursor is synchronized between them; even if one plot uses the Auto centering option and the other does not:

Figure 163: Different auto centering options selected

In the above example, the lower graph does not use the Auto centering option, so it is aligned to the left.

With an XY curve, no blue line is displayed (only bubbles).

Note

Unlike with standard cursors, you cannot break the replay cursor synchronization Cursor synchronization between different graphs in your plot window.

Post-processing tools are temporarily synchronized. In other words, plot cursor replay, 3D animation, the Dashboard and the Statechart use the same current time, speed, and loop mode. If, for example, you open a plot with cursor replay and an animation, current time, speed and loop mode will be identical for both; starting replay in the plot will start replay for the animation, and manipulating current time in the animation will adjust current time in the plot.

Note

For more information, please refer to the Analysis tool synchronization section of the Simcenter Amesim Reference manual.
