Adjusting run parameters
Tolerance
The smaller you set the tolerance, the slower your simulation will be. Provided the accuracy remains acceptable, consider increasing the tolerance when the run is too slow.
Discontinuities printout
In Simcenter Amesim, every time a discontinuity occurs, the solver registers it and then is restarted, this makes it possible to have precise results, but it slows the simulation
If you enable Discontinuities printout, extra values are added to the .results file at discontinuity points and these are indicated in the Simulation Log of the Run Monitor pane.

This allows you to see not only when the discontinuities occur, but also from which submodel they originate:

In cases where there are many discontinuities in your model, try to avoid them if they are not essential.
Some examples of discontinuities:
Submodels which employ linear interpolation for empirical data (ASCII tables)
Any form of backlash
Frictional stick-slip
A valve such as a check valve that has characteristics when open, which are completely different from the characteristics when closed
Any form of hysteresis
Any sort of duty cycle involving steps or ramps
