The Configure menu > Global parameters

Creating an enumeration global parameter

If a component contains an enumeration parameter, you can use it to create a global enumeration parameter. This can be done in two ways:

  • Drag and drop an enumeration parameter to the Global Parameter Setup dialog box. When you click Apply, the enumeration global parameter is created and set as the value of the enumeration parameter of your component.

  • Create an enumeration global parameter directly in the Global Parameter Setup dialog box.

In the Global Parameter Setup dialog box, right-click and select New > Enumeration parameter (or press Ctrl+E).

Configure Enumeration

The Configure Enumeration dialog box opens.

Drag and drop your enumeration parameter into the box.

The corresponding values are displayed in the Configure Enumeration dialog box.

Click OK.

The new enumeration global parameter is created.

Using an enumeration global parameter

Once you have created and applied an enumeration global parameter, you can use either the global parameter, or select the values it represents from the drop-down box. In the following example, the cross-sectional area geometrical definition parameter is configured to use the global parameter areadef, whose value is set to circular:

If we decide to select the value manually, we can click on the value (without pressing Ctrl, so that we do not open the Global Parameter Setup dialog box), and then select one of the available enumeration parameters configured for the parameter:

This field is editable: you can type the name of a global parameter or an individual value directly. Non-default values are displayed in bold type. If you enter an incorrect value, it is highlighted in red:
