Types of graph view

This section describes the different types of curves you can use within Plot to display your data. It explains how to manage and format them according to the representation you are trying to visualize. The type of view that is associated with a graph determines which types of curves are available for you to select.

The standard graph view types are:

• 2D: allows you to use 2D line, dot, density, colormap, contour, or bubble. The compatible formats are XY curve, M1D curve, XYZ curve, and 2D matrix.

• 3D: allows you to use 3D line, waterfall, mesh, or surface. The compatible formats are M1D curve, XYZ curve, and 2D matrix.

• 2D discrete: allows you to use discrete line, dot or bar. The compatible format is Y animated curve.

• 2D stacked bar: allows you to use stacked bars. The compatible format is Y animated curve.

• 2D parallel coordinates: allows you to use line or dot. The compatible format is Y animated curve.

• 2D spider chart: allows you to use line or filled area. The compatible format is Y animated curve.

• Circular: allows you to use 2D or 3D pie. The compatible format is Y animated curve.

Dedicated application-specific graph view types are:

• 2D Modulo: allows you to use 2D line with modulo variable

• 2D Orbital modulo: allows you to use 2D polar

• 2D Thermodynamic: allows you to use thermodynamic diagram

• 1D plot: allows you to use 2D line with a space dimension variable

To select or check the view type of a graph, right-click on the graph area and select Graph.... Then you have access to the drop-down list of the view type in the General tab.
