System plot configuration

Add plot to document Plot configurations that are attached to a system are plot templates for layouts and data bindings. They can be used to efficiently set up result comparisons.

Plot configurations are handled through text files, commonly with a .plt extension.

Plot configurations do not store raw data themselves.

Plot configurations do not explicitly refer to a system. Plot configuration files establish a link with the data to be displayed through the variable data-paths. It is therefore possible to use a plot configuration for different systems as long as the data-paths referred to by the configuration are valid in each system.

Note

When a plot configuration is opened form the Analysis toolbar, it is automatically applied to the active system, and the newly-created plot will maintain the link with the sketch to ensure that any potential alias change is taken into account.

To apply the same configuration to another system, the user must first make the system active, and then re-open the plot configuration.

Using the data-path (parameter/variable varnames and component alias) it is fairly easy for the user to clearly identify all parameters and variables of a system.

It is even possible to decide on a specific data-path naming scheme that remains valid independently of systems. This makes it possible to use a plot configuration across different systems.

Add plot to a system

As well as creating a plot through the methods described in the previous section, you can add a plot to the circuit, so that it is permanently available.

Procedure

1. Click the icon in the Plot toolbar.

   A dialog box opens where you can modify the title if necessary: Figure 200: Modifying a title

2. Click OK.

   The plot is saved with the .ame file, and becomes permanently available from the Plots item of the Simcenter Amesim Analysis toolbar:

Manage plots of a system

You can manage the plots saved with the circuit through the Plots option of the Analysis toolbar. Here you can rename, remove, import or export a plot:

You can save a plot configuration through the Export option. This opens a file browser through which you can define a storage location for the exported plot configuration.

You can load a plot configuration through the Import button. This opens a file browser through which you can locate a plot configuration. The imported plot configuration is added to the MODEL PLOTS group as a new tile.

You can organize your list of plots by dragging and dropping a tile to the required position.
