Environment variables
To successfully execute the Simcenter 3D Motion solver from within Simcenter Amesim, some system environment variables need to be set. These environment variables allow Simcenter Amesim to locate the Simcenter 3D Motion solver on the computer. The Simcenter 3D Motion solver requires the environment variable VLMOTIONSLV to be set to execute. When starting Simcenter 3D Motion Mechatronics interface this environment variable is set automatically by the Simcenter 3D start up script. When doing a coupled simulation from within Simcenter 3D Motion the user does not have to set this environment variable, however, when running outside the Simcenter 3D environment this variable must be set. In the Simcenter Amesim to Simcenter 3D Motion interface, the co-simulation is typically started from within Simcenter Amesim. This means VLMOTIONSLV will not be set.
In order to set up the environment to run co-simulation, a simple script (cosim_setup.bat) is available in the MECH/MOTIONSOLVER subfolder of the Simcenter 3D installation. When running this script the location of the installation folder for the control system application must be provided, then a new batch file (Amesim_COSIM.bat) will be added to the desktop: this file must be used to launch Simcenter Amesim with all required variables automatically set, and to open the control system from which the co-simulation will be started.
