Data Import — Motivations and Purposes
This manual introduces the Data Import facility in Simcenter Amesim. For everyday modeling tasks, it is often necessary to import data from experimental measurements (e.g., physical test benches) or from available numerical results into Simcenter Amesim models. Purposes for importing data include:
- Replaying measurements to compare them with simulation results, or using them as inputs to other components of a model (e.g., to define mission profiles or excitations based on existing data).
- Replacing non-modeled parts of a system or its environment with interpolated or fitted approximations of measured quantities.
- Parameterizing components that rely on data-based samples of physical quantities, pre-defined variable evolutions, or various kinds of measured properties.
In practice, fulfilling these purposes often requires manual conversion of input files to a format the tool can consume (detail truncated in source; note doc retrieved is from the 2021.2 version — content is stable across releases for this topic).
