Coupling Modelica models with native Simcenter Amesim models
Simulation results
Having reviewed the model, you can now run a 0.003 second simulation using the predefined Run Parameters settings. The plot configuration stored in the model will show the behavior of the three subsystems. Figure Figure 58 shows the behavior of the statechart controller. Based on the high level control input command, the statechart behaves like a PWM controller where in some stages, there are very fast transitions between which switches are opened and which are closed.

The Modelica-based power electronics circuit responds to these fast switching actions as shown in figure Figure 59. The current that is passed through to the transducer reaches a high point to initiate opening of the solenoid, then modulates around a upper / lower set point while the solenoid is held open. In between these stages, it returns the transducer current to zero in order to shut the solenoid.

Figure Figure 60 shows the end result on the hydraulics components. When the transducer current increases, the control valve starts to lift until it reaches the hold position. After some delays due to the transient response, the piston and needle open, and the fluid begins to flow out the nozzle. When the transducer current is shut off, the solenoid once again closes and the fluid flow stops.

You can also leverage Simcenter Amesim's post-processing capabilities to more clearly visualize this behavior. For example, you can open the statechart environment again and view it alongside the plot. Using the replay cursor, you can watch the statechart highlight the active states while the seeing the associated values for the subsystem responses (figure Figure 61). You can also pause the playback and click through each event to identify exactly when the switch opening / closing transitions occur.
