Frequencies pane

The Frequencies pane displays information about frequency analysis. It identifies the undamped or unstable high natural frequencies of the system at different times of the simulation and it offers the possibility to plot the evolution of the highest eigenfrequency at each linearization time during the whole simulation. Based on this plot an indicative fixed time step to be used with the explicit Euler's method is given.

The higher the level of detail represented in the model, the higher frequencies embedded in the model are. As you have seen in the first simple example, some frequencies could slow down the solving time especially when they are excited.

Remember that the "proper" model is the one having the minimum complexity required to address the modeling objective, i.e. with the correct frequency range of interest.

Most of the time there is no reason to have 106+ Hz frequencies included in your model. This point will be addressed with the Model pertinence color tagging feature.

In the following figure the Frequencies pane of the Performance Analyzer is presented. The left part of the pane presents the linearization results once a simulation with automatic linearization has been performed. On the right side, the maximal eigenfrequency plot with its corresponding damping is displayed.
