You can set submodels for single components, or for multiple components of the same type.

Setting a submodel for a single component

When a component on the sketch does not have a submodel set, it is displayed in reverse video:

In this case you must set a submodel.

Procedure

1. Double-click on the component you are interested in.

A dialog box is produced, as shown in the following figure, comprising:

a list of suitable submodels,

six buttons labeled OK, Cancel, External variables, Help, View and Unset.

Initially the first submodel in the list is highlighted.

2. Select any other submodel in the list according to your needs.

The highlighted submodel will become the active one when the OK, External variables, or Help button is clicked. Note The value of the parameters that are common to the submodel currently assigned, and to the new submodel (the active one when the OK button is clicked) are kept.

Compatibility checks are made with adjoining component submodels. This means that the submodels which are not compatible are not included in the list.

3. Click on OK.

The highlighted submodel is now associated with the component.

Setting submodels for multiple components

You can set a submodel for multiple components of the same type.

Procedure

1. Select the components of the same type for which you want to set submodels. You can use a Ctrl+click to make a multiple selection.

2. Right-click and select Set submodel:

The Set Submodel dialog box opens.

3. Select the submodel you require from the list and click OK.

The selected submodel is applied to all selected components.

Removing submodels for multiple components

In the same way, you can remove submodels for multiple (identical) components.

Setting submodels for components of different categories

You can also set submodels for multiple components from different categories if they use the same icon.

In the above screenshot, we are setting submodels for tanks from the Hydraulic, Thermal Hydraulic and Filling libraries.

You can also set submodels for multiple selections of lines.
