Discrete partitioning is a supplementary package which makes it possible to split complex hydraulic systems (containing Godunov or Lax-Wendroff line submodels) into several simpler systems (slaves).

Each slave runs in its own process: you can take advantage of dual-core technology and/or distribute the runs on several computers on a network.

This also saves a lot of CPU time. For example, if you have a model with 180 state variables, and you split it up into 3 slaves of 60 state variables each, you have 3 Jacobian matrices of 60² (= 3600) elements instead of one Jacobian matrix of 180² (= 32400 elements).
