Overview of the 3D Scenes Tool

Getting started

The 3D Scenes application is a solution for interacting with models of dynamic systems over time. It extends the capabilities of your digital world and Simcenter Amesim software into the world of 3D visualization. The application provides a complete working environment for carrying out 3D visualization of systems. 3D Scenes allow you to visualize dynamic system simulations through the following tasks:

  • Build a 3D scene from an active model

  • Connect to the model

  • View dynamic system simulations

  • Share dynamic system simulation visualizations

As you refine your visualization, you often perform some of these tasks iteratively.

Launching the 3D Scenes application

The 3D Scenes application is accessed through the

3D Scenes

space located in the toolbar in the top right-hand corner of the main window.

Click the Standard icon in the NEW category, a new 3D scene instance is created for the active model and the 3D Scenes workspace opens.

Once you have created your first 3D scene, a 3D Scenes document icon is added to the MODEL category corresponding to that instance.

You can create several 3D scenes as needed for your model. This can be useful if you want to see different phenomena or focus on subsystems.

Note

The newly-created scene is only saved and attached to your active model once you save your model.

System requirement

If your computer graphic hardware is not configured to use OpenGL 2.0 or above, consider updating the drivers and make sure to activate OpenGL to enhance graphics performance.
