Working with user toolboxes

When you create a user toolbox (as described in the previous section), you can perform the following actions on it:

  • Rename toolbox Rename toolbox : Double-click the user toolbox name, or right-click and select Rename toolbox to change the name of a user toolbox.

  • Hide toolbox Hide toolbox : Right-click and select Hide toolbox to hide a toolbox in the Toolboxes list. This can be a standard or a user toolbox.

  • Remove toolbox Remove toolbox : Right-click and select Remove toolbox to delete a user toolbox and its contents.

  • Export toolbox Export toolbox : Right-click and select Export toolbox to export a toolbox and its contents to a file. You can export both user toolboxes and standard toolboxes supplied with Simcenter Amesim. When you select this option, the following dialog box opens:

Here you can enter a path for the destination directory, or click the browse button to locate a destination directory. If you select the Toolbox is read-only Toolbox is read-only check box, when the toolbox is imported, you cannot rename the toolbox, and you cannot remove or rename any graphic primitives it contains.

  • Import toolbox Import toolbox : Right-click and select Import toolbox to import a toolbox previously-exported to a file. Note If a Dashboard was created using a user toolbox that is not available on your machine, you can nonetheless open that Dashboard. The graphic primitives from that user toolbox are embedded in the Dashboard, and are therefore available to any user of that Dashboard.

  • Rename primitive Rename primitive : Right-click and select Rename primitive to change the name of a graphic primitive. You can also double-click a graphic primitive’s name to edit it.

  • Remove primitive Remove primitive : Right-click and select Remove primitive to delete a graphic primitive from a user toolbox. Note You cannot modify the standard Simcenter Amesim toolboxes:

Reorganizing the toolbox list

You can reorganize your toolboxes by dragging and dropping them in the Toolboxes organizer:

Here, we are dragging the My_Toolbox (user toolbox) to just below the Basic Shapes toolbox. When you release the mouse button, the toolbox list is updated with the new order:

Copying toolboxes

You can quickly and easily create a copy of a toolbox and its contents (both a standard Simcenter Amesim-supplied toolbox and a user toolbox), by pressing the Ctrl key on your keyboard, and dragging the toolbox you want to copy in the Toolbox organizer:

In the above screenshot, we are pressing Ctrl and dragging the Basic Controls toolbox in the Toolboxes organizer to create a copy of the toolbox. When we release the mouse, the new Basic Controls user toolbox appears (containing the same graphic primitives as the original toolbox).
