Data inspector

Use this action to get information about curves on a graph and keep the relevant ones as required. This is very convenient when you need to select important curves from many result sets.

The Data inspector switches the graphs to a mode that allows you to get information about the curves. To enable this mode, select the View > Data inspector menu item, or the dedicated button in the toolbar.

While the mode is activated, the curves are shaded. Hovering the pointer over a curve highlights the elements (lines in between points or points) of the curve. In addition to the highlight, a label is displayed close to the pointer. The label content depends on the curve element that is highlighted.

Note

The data inspector is not available with 2D colormap and 3D surface displays.

Data inspection

Curve

When the pointer is close to the line of a curve, the whole curve is highlighted with the same color as is set when the data inspector is not enabled. Then the label displays the following:

• the title of the curve (in case of a file, the filename is also given)

• the result set number

• the titles and the values of the result set parameters if any

Point

When the pointer is close to a result point of a curve, the whole curve is highlighted with the same color as is set when the data inspector is not enabled. A marker with a rounded shape is placed at the point location. Then the label displays the following:

• the title of the curve (in case of a file, the filename is also given)

• the result set number

• the titles and the values of the result set parameters, if any

• the title and the value of the variables corresponding to the inspected point

Curve selection

Once a curve is highlighted, you can click it to add it to the selection. The color of the curves turns orange to identify them as selected. Click a selected curve to deselect it.

Right-click the graph to access the contextual menu and the actions relatives to the selection. Then you can reset the whole selection by using Clear selection, Keep selected curves only and remove all the curves from the selection from the graph, or Remove selected curves from the graph.

Note

If you exit the data inspector mode and then reactivate it, the selection previously made is retained.
