Simulation parameters

Because Simcenter Amesim is acting as a slave, the simulation parameters defined inside the tool will be used for the Simcenter Amesim simulation. These parameters are accessible via the Settings button in the Simcenter Amesim tab or via the menu (Options

Simcenter Amesim standard parameters).

The dialog box that appears offers the same options as Simcenter Amesim with four additional options:

• Simulation Interval

• Reinitialize after cycle

• Initialize on load

• Slow down to wallclock

The first one (Simulation Interval) defines the timespan of each exchange step with Simcenter Amesim; the second (Reinitialize after cycle) defines whether Automation Connect automatically reinitializes the Simcenter Amesim simulation after each run; the third one (Initialize on load) defines whether the Simcenter Amesim model gets initialized after loading or before starting (see note below); the last one (Slow down to wallclock) optionally slows down the simulation to the computer time. Note that this option therefore results in the same behavior as the time sync block within Simcenter Amesim.

This simulation interval Simulation interval is strictly equivalent to the notion of "co-simulation time step" usually referred to when dealing with co-simulation. It is kept constant during the complete simulation except in the time synchronization mode where it can be adjusted via a slider (see Controlling a synchronized simulation for more details).

Note that your parameters will be set on initialization of the Simcenter Amesim model. According to the setting "Initialize on load", the initialization itself will be done either directly after loading the Co-Simulation DLL or when the simulation is started. If you define parameters via the Automation Connect menu or the Simcenter Amesim tab button (before loading a Simcenter Amesim Co-Simulation DLL), they will be saved as the standard parameters for every simulation. If you access and change the parameters after connecting to Simcenter Amesim (with the option "Initialize on load" disabled), the values will be used only temporarily for your current setup. If you save and load an Automation Connect simulation setup, the tool will also save and load the defined parameters.
