Static and Dynamic Simulation

A static/dynamics solution first does a static solution to settle the system then launches a dynamic run from this settled configuration. This is analogous to a "Stabilizing+Dynamic" solution in Simcenter Amesim. The user activates this feature in Simcenter 3D Motion by selecting the Include Static Analysis checkbox, see figure below. An additional section will be displayed at the bottom of the Solution dialog with all static solver parameters available to control the accuracy and rate of convergence of the static solution.

The most important settings here are the Force Tolerance and Step Size. The Force Tolerance is the how tight a solution is achieved. In a static solution the equations of (4-6) have their state derivatives set to zero as in Equations (9-11) and solved. The Force Tolerance is the residual of these equations.
