The Simulate menu

Simulation mode

When you change from Sketch, Submodel or Parameter mode into Simulation mode, Simcenter Amesim sometimes compiles and links code to create a new executable and sometimes it does not. The decision is made on the basis of two criteria:

  1. If no executable exists, the compilation and link must take place.

  2. If an executable does exist, the compilation and link is done only if it is strictly necessary. This happens if there has been a change to the system which makes the executable out-of-date.

If Simcenter Amesim compiles and links code, the System Compilation window appears. See The System Compilation window.

In Simulation mode you can:

  • Specify the characteristics of simulation runs.

  • Initiate these simulation runs.

  • Plot graphs of the results.

  • Specify linear analysis to be performed at various times.

  • Post-process the linear analysis results.

  • Post-process activity index results.

  • Start the Study Manager and perform design export studies.

  • Start the Export parameters control panel and create export files.

Note

Since the construction of plots is a major activity, the description of time domain plots is presented in the Plotting Facilities manual.
