Creating and exporting FMU > The Export Tool in detail
Multiple FMUs and multiple instances of the same FMU
Multiple FMUs corresponding to distinct Simcenter Amesim models can be imported into an FMI master environment with no restriction.
Multiple instances of the same FMU cannot be simulated within a single process in an FMI master environment. However, using multiple instances of the same FMU remains possible if distinct processes are used with only one FMU instance per process. In the case of an FMU that writes files to disk, it may also be necessary to use multiple copies (each stored in a dedicated directory), to avoid conflicts between instances. If distinct processes cannot be used then a workaround consists in saving the Simcenter Amesim model to be exported several times, under different names, and exporting all these copies as FMUs. These FMUs can then be imported with no restrictions within a unique process, since they do not share the same dynamic link library and data files: they are seen as distinct models.
