Encryption
The supercomponent encryption mechanism changed significantly in Rev 11, especially for supercomponents. Users accustomed to older versions of Simcenter Amesim must read this section with care. More details on the switch between old and new encryption methods are given in the following section: Using the old encryption method.
Encryption is achieved through the setting of a password. There are two objectives:
Protect a customized object from unintentional modification by someone opening it accidentally in Component Customization. This is the role of the password, necessary to open any encrypted customized object.
Protect the Intellectual Property (IP) stored in the customized object from any reverse engineering operations. This is especially true when the customized objects are sent to third-party users. This protection is the role of the encryption mechanism when applied to .spe and .sub files.
A password can only be set for a customized object once, the first time it is saved, or when performing a Save as. Once a customized object is saved in encrypted form, it can only be saved in unencrypted form by saving it under a new name.
