Statechart Environment > Create statecharts / Debug and Test statecharts / Statechart as model component
Create statecharts
To create a statechart in a Simcenter Amesim model: in Sketch mode, click the statechart toolbar button or select Create Statechart from the Sketch menu. The cursor takes the statechart icon's appearance; place the component on the sketch.
To build the chart's contents, launch the Statechart Environment editor from the statechart component's contextual (right-click) menu.
Debug and Test statecharts
Most debugging tasks can be performed directly from the Statechart Environment editor:
- Validate statechart semantics and expression syntax at edit-time, before compilation.
- Animate statechart flows during and after simulation.
- During/after simulation, access values for input, output, events, local, active-state, and transition-validation data via the component variables window of the statechart component.
Statechart as model component
Statechart components in a model inherit certain properties of standard physics-library components. These properties let you specify how the statechart interfaces with the rest of the model (ports, causality, etc.).
