Display text and value

Two types of text object can be inserted on the scene:

  • Screen text is placed in a corner of a window.

  • Scene text is placed wherever you want in the scene.

Text objects have specific properties:

  • Text: The text displayed. You can use the keyword %1. This keyword will be replaced by the value of the property arg.

  • Argument: The argument that can be used in the text property using the keyword %1.

Example

Enter the text Force %1 in the text property value. Drag a force to the Argument value. Play the animation and look at the text marker.

Create a text as a 3D object

Procedure

  1. Click Add Text in the Physics section of the ribbon bar and select Scene text.A text box is added to your scene at the origin of its direct parent. By default, the text is displayed in screen mode. Screen mode is a text display setting that ensures continuous readability by making text always face the viewer's camera.Note An object text3Dis added in the Scene tree as a child of the world root. Visibility of the scene text in the scene can be activated or deactivated through the quick access action.

  2. You can change the position of the text by moving its frame origin. If you switch the display mode to scene, the text lies flat on the XY plane of its frame. It is aligned with the X-axis direction. Then the text orientation remains fixed in 3D space regardless of your viewing angle; it may appear rotated or upside down depending on your viewpoint.
